Farm Dog Certification

The Greater Clark County Kennel Club holds three days of dog performance days twice a year at the Clark County Fairgrounds – usually in early May and late November.

Our Club does the Farm Dog Certification Test and other Clubs and the GCCKC handle other events – scent work, lure coursing, agility, rally, obedience and other certifying tests. To get the Farm Dog Certification title, you need to certify under two judges.

The Club has worked out a way to run five dogs at a time through the 12 elements of the farm dog certification test. With a different judge in the morning and afternoon, dogs could get their two qualifying runs in during one day. (To certify, a dog must pass the course twice under different judges – similar to a herding event.)

You can learn more about the test on the AKC website at https://www.akc.org/sports/herding/farm-dog-certified-test/. The regulations are available here, but best way to understand it is to come out and help with the test, then run your dog. Look for more information about the Farm Dog Certification as those Performance Days get close.
