Farm Dog Certification

In years past, our Club did the Farm Dog Certification Test at the Greater Clark County Kennel Club performance days. In 2025 we will be doing Farm Dog Certification as part of the Clackamas Kennel Club show in McMinnville, OR June 21 and 22. To get the Farm Dog Certification title, you need to certify under two judges.

You can learn more about the test on the AKC website at https://www.akc.org/sports/herding/farm-dog-certified-test/. The regulations are available here, but best way to understand it is to come out and help with the test, then run your dog.

The June 2025 Farm Dog Test Certification with the Clackamas Kennel Club show in McMinnville, Oregon was a big success. Here is a link to pictures and narration about the event.

We look forward to joining them again on June 20 and 21, 2026 during the Clackamas Kennel Club’s show at the Hillsboro Event Complex. Open to all dogs older than 9-months-old. The test involves 12 exercises typical for a farm environment such as being calm near livestock (that are penned); jumping and staying on straw bales; walking on unusual terrain; passing through a gate; and an out-of-sight stay when crated. There is no herding involved. A dog must successfully complete the test twice with different judges. We will have multiple judges, so your dog can title in a day.
